List of the nominee's achievements:

- Nominated for the Dr Ashleigh Molloy award by SMILE Canada
- Held the first Interpreter Workshop of its kind, in April 2016, that trained professional ASL interpreters on the various terms and signs in Islam as well as about working in an Islamic setting.

The impact and influence the nominee had on the Muslim word:

GDMC's aim is to provide accessibility to Islamic information for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Muslims by increasing the resources available in American Sign Language (ASL). Since there is little to no access to Islam for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Muslims, especially in North America, GDMC tries to break accessibility barriers by providing the following: - Interpreter services at local mosques so the Deaf are able to take part in sermons, daily prayers, and community events - Interpreter services at lectures, Islamic classes, workshops, conferences, and conventions - Adding American Sign Language to popular videos containing informative Islamic lectures - Recording short Fattabiouni videos with an Interpreter superimposed on the screen - Teaching hearing Muslims American Sign Language so that they can communicate and interact with the Deaf. GDMC held the first Interpreter Workshop of its kind, in April 2016, that trained professional ASL interpreters on the various terms and signs in Islam as well as about working in an Islamic setting. By doing so, GDMC has opened up a larger pool of interpreters who are willing to work at future events since most interpreters are adamant about working in Muslim settings due to negative media-related stereotypes. This organisation is also responsible for finding interpreters for annual Islamic events like the ISNA Canada Convention, RIS and Eid prayers.

The impact and influence the nominee had on the world and humanity:

This organisation is run by a group of volunteers and provides paid employment opportunities for Deaf individuals at various events around the GTA as well as volunteering opportunities for those who are interested through the year.
By doing so, it promotes an inclusive environment, as well as the opportunity for both the deaf and hearing to interact with each other.
This helps Deaf and Hard of Hearing Muslims feel more involved in the general community as it aids in bridging communication gaps.

How the nominee’s activities and achievement will continue to impact and influence in the future:

As mentioned above, GDMC will continue to organise social events and provide accessibility to the Deaf in the hope that this will promote a more welcoming community.
