- Conflicts erupt in Myanmar leaving over 115,000 people displaced – amongst the first on the ground, Muslim Aid open an office in Sittwe, Myanmar to implement long-term development programmes that will help those affected. - Muslim Aid launches an ambitious fundraising programme to help those affected by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The appeal raises over 2.3 million and enables Muslim Aid to step up relief work in the area. - A devastating earthquake hits Northern Pakistan – Muslim Aid develops an extensive emergency relief programme and plans for long-term sustainable projects. Many emergency camps are set up to care for displaced people. - Somalia is hit by its worst drought in 60 years – Muslim Aid launch an emergency appeal that reaches around 1 million of those affected, with food packs, healthcare, water, education and counselling. - Muslim Aid distributes 39 tonnes of aid worth £250,000 to Tirana, Albania on the first ever chartered flight arranged by the Muslim community - Muslim Aid send tents, blankets, food and medicines to some of the 16 million people affected by famine in Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique and Sudan. - Muslim Aid organise events and talks based on the teachings of the Quran.

The impact and influence the nominee had on the world and humanity:

- Muslim Aid signs up to the Make Poverty History Campaign, with other civil society groups, for urgent and significant action on world poverty.
- Muslim Aid raises over £350,000 in response to a devastating earthquake in Haiti. After providing much needed emergency relief, long-term sustainable development projects begin.
- Muslim Aid delivers emergency relief for some of the 2 million people suffering after Cyclone Nargis, Myanmar. A major school come cyclone shelter is built during long-term rehabilitation.
In a continued effort to support Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Sri Lanka, Muslim Aid and partners work to resettle hundreds of families in temporary shelters, whilst also providing safe water.
- Muslim Aid assists survivors of Hurricane Ivan in St George, Grenada, with food, medicine and Shelter.
- Muslim Aid, UNICEF and WHO provide emergency medicine, food and medical personnel to treat survivors of the cholera outbreak in Kismayo, Somalia.

- Muslim Aid takes a lead role in forming the South East Asian NGO alliance, a collaboration of 22 humanitarian organisations committed to pooling resources to tackle poverty in the region.
- The Asian development bank (ADB) and Muslim Aid begin a joint 2.5million housing programme for Tsunami affected areas in Aceh, Indonesia.
- Muslim Aid forms a historic partnership with the World Bank and a multi-donor trust fund to deliver a $6.8 million flood mitigation project in Indonesia.
- The Vice President of Gambia inaugurates the Muslim Aid funded school for the blind, which provides free learning facilities.
- The British High Commissioner, Richard Clarke, inaugurates the Muslim Aid funded laboratory, library and computer rooms in the Tayyibat school, Tanzania
- Muslim Aid expands economic empowerment programmes with Income generation and skills training projects that support people in Kenya, Bangladesh and Palestine.
- Muslim Aid Bangladesh implements an income generation scheme where 2000 people benefit from 6 months of training and interest free loans to start their own business.
- Muslim Aid partners with PL84U, a service that provides hot food to the homeless, elderly and those living under conditions of financial difficulty or isolation.
